Fashion week is finally over. The buzz would linger for some 2 weeks before we can properly call it a wrap. Definitely doling out pass marks to the Organizers, Sponsors and all the beautiful people that made it successful.
It was four days of fun, exicitement, intense bustle, and perhaps disappointment for some.
EVENT DESIGN/VENUE: Federal Palace Hotel acted as the backdrop for this year’s wonderful event. Alot could be said in admiration of the exhibition tent that was finely designed to encourage commerce and trade for designers and other brands. Movement around each booth was seemless.
Am sure alot attendees would however complain about the fact that Heineken’s green gel lights smeared the quality of pics taken at that arena.
Small reservation regarding the fashion runway tent. The design was quite plain and traditional (perhaps the intention of the organizers). Nonetheless the organization within the venue was commendable
MODELS : New faces this year, quite refreshing. Valentine Agbakwuru is one model to watch out for. Presence of established models like Bolajo, Uju, Seun Bolaji, Alvin also gave the runway the class it exhumed.
Major concern regarding the role of the coordinator though. There were little discordant moments on the runway suggesting that there were not enough hours put into deep rehearsals and blending of the models.
DESIGNERS: Whether it was T.I Nathan’s rose inspired collection, WEIZDHURM FRANKLYN seemingly European influenced designs, House of Kaya’s chic Muslimah centered collection, or Johnson Johnson’s classic man suit cuts, accentuated with Mexican hats. Most designers left the attendees delighted, feeding the Nigerian fashion world with new, classic and eccentric designs/style.
STREETSTYLE : Perhaps the stretstyle arena was where the most fun and excitement was centered… fashion week attendees didn’t disappoint this year as photographers and fashion bloggers would testify to constantly clicking shutters every time someone stepped into the LFDW premises from the parking lot. Hats (fedora, boater, panama, boss of the plains, bowler) were the killer accessory of the week as you could spot many accentuating thier style with one. Capes, Dashikis, and footwears were also a delight on streetstyle. Commendable also, were those who expressed style using DIY’s.
FASHION WEEK BUZZ/ATTENDANCE : No doubt, the media and publicity department executed thier assignments to satisfaction. Each show was packed to brim. The Nigerian fashion scene was well represented by people from its length and breath….. The grand finale was graced by Africa’s richest Aliko Dangote and is apparent best friend Otedola… Also, celebreties and didnitaries; Chidinma, Monalisa chinda, Eku Edewor sisters, Mrs Otedola, Denola Grey, Noble Igwe, Victoria Kimani and a host of others.
We are fired up for next season!!!
